Weddings

I had the privilege of photographing Tyler and Armi Ramsey at the Seattle LDS temple in November 2013 .  What a beautiful couple. Armi had a few minutes before Tyler was ready to join her outside, normally the groom is waiting for the bride.

Evergreen State Fair

I had the opportunity to be hired as a photographer for the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe, Washington in August.  It was an amazing opportunity to shoot everything fair related.  I had so much fun capturing moments of the fair. I was able to shoot the concerts, the meet and greets for the bands, the rodeo, the monster trucks (I've never seen monster trucks before and sure wish that I would have had some earplugs.), the performers, the animals, 4-H, the carnival and anything else I could find.  I was all over the fairgrounds and I should have been wearing a pedometer.  I know it was several miles every day and sometimes it was hard because I was suppose to be in 2 places at the same time.  As I've been looking through my pictures trying to decide which ones I want to share, I've realized that I have several so I'm going to break it into multiple entries.  The first ones are one of the crowd favorites, the pig races.

The racers are getting ready to go.

An eager competitor geared up and ready to go.

And they are off.

And out of the gate.

They are neck and neck

Not to be left behind.

Lucille Dickson McCrohan

Many times in life, you never know what you're able to do until you try. We often expect perfection from ourselves the very first time we try something.  Little children fall many times when they are learning to walk, but to be successful they have to keep getting up.  Learning to play a new musical instrument can be a source of frustration, and even tears.  Often the first few notes might not sound like you hope for and it's easy to stop and walk away.  We normally don't learn something by just saying "I want to learn to..."  So it is with photo restoration.  You look at a photo and envision what it should look like once it's finished, but getting there is the challenge.  Often it takes trying different tools or looking at the photo with different perspectives to bring the vision to life.  This one took looking at it in many different ways before the mental vision matched the picture.  This is the great, great grandma of a dear friend and I'm sure she lead an amazing life.  She had to be a woman full of dignity, meet Lucille Dickson McCrohan, the before picture.

And now the after.

Seattle Skyline

This is one of my favorite pictures of the Seattle Skyline. I can't wait to be able to go to Kerry Park again.

Night Time Photos

I had the opportunity to take spend the evening with another photographer in Seattle taking night shots.  We spent the time taking skyline pictures of Seattle, light painting at the Seattle Center and finishing the evening with the opportunity to take pictures of the Seattle Ferris Wheel on the waterfront.  It was an amazing evening.  Here's some of my favorites.

Preserving the Past

I have always loved history and I try to learn from it. I have been fortunate to have several recorded histories of various family members.  But I haven't always appreciated the stories.  My grandfather use to tell a story about a lavender rose, over and over.  Being very young at the time, I started to tune him out when he would tell his story.  Unfortunately now, I don't remember it and I wish I could remember it so I could pass the story onto my children.

While I may not remember some of the stories, I enjoy helping other preserve their histories and pictures.  Sometimes pictures are damaged and the damage is so severe, the pictures are often thrown away.  But at times, the pictures can be restored and brought to life, to be able to pass onto another generation.

Before

This is one picture that was almost thrown away because it had been torn in half and taped together. After some work, I was able to bring it back. There is nothing like seeing the look on someone's face when they realize a cherished photo  If you have any photos you want restored, contact me at cherisphotos10@gmail.com for a quote.  I'll be sharing more before and after pictures in upcoming days.

Welcome

Welcome to Cheri's photos.  Life is a journey and we don't always know where our path will take us.  We need to enjoy each day and be a part of the journey.  And so my journey begins.
